Welcome to the course Leadership and Management for Health and Human Services. This is an e-Learning course that is aligned to the National Qualification BSB51915 : Diploma of Leadership and Management educational requirements. In this on-line program the full requirements of the Diploma of Leadership and Management are applied - but the program is contextualized with additional case studies and examples of particular interest to people working in the Health and Human Services fields.
The Diploma of Leadership and Management is a qualification for executive and middle management, board directors, consultants and aspiring leaders. Its a great program for Leaders and Managers at all levels of any organisation and will provide a set of information and tools to ensure that you can make a real difference wherever you work.
On the completion of this course and the questionnaire assessments, you will have completed the educational requirements for the Diploma of Leadership and Management. To receive the internationally-recognized qualification, you are required to complete the additional assessment requirements.
Your Instructor
Professor Rouse has a career working, and contributing to knowledge, in both Higher Education and Industry. His passion for Education, Global Health and empowering people to achieve their potential has been supported by broad expertise in leadership and management, information management, research and evaluation.
Ian brings a wide range of leadership, management and interpersonal skills developed over 30 years in senior management roles in Universities and Government Departments, and community and sporting organizations. He has a management style which is people focused, and he enjoys leading and envisioning all staff, and challenging them to improve their skills and achieve their potential – whatever position they may hold in any organization.
Ian has held senior academic positions including acting Vice Chancellor of the Fiji National University, Dean of the College of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences at Fiji National University, Executive Dean of the Division of Health, Engineering and Sciences at Victoria University, and Associate Dean of Research and Enterprise Development at Curtin University. He currently holds adjunct Professorial roles with Monash and Victoria Universities in Melbourne Australia and teaching roles in Leadership and Management, Field Epidemiology and Data for Decision Making.
Ian’s industry leadership roles have included those of General Manager, Chief Information Officer and Director, including his present role as a Director of the Global Peopleistic Group.
Ian’s Academic Qualifications include a Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Biomedical Sciences, a Doctorate in Epidemiology, and a Graduate Diploma in Health Sciences with a focus on Research and Evaluation. Ian also studied at the Harvard School of Public Health and Harvard Medical School as a post-doctoral fellow in epidemiology.
Ian has completed several professional qualifications including Diplomas in Project Management, Change Management, Human Resource Management and Quality Management and certificates in Instructional Design, Prince2, Extended DISC and FinXS. Ian has also completed a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment and is a very experienced adult educator, trainer and facilitator.
Ian has a broad knowledge of epidemiology and health statistics, information planning and management, health policy and planning, public health and health research and the use of data and information for monitoring, evaluation and decision-making in the health and education sectors. He has delivered more than 100 lectures, has more than 100 peer reviewed publications and reports across a broad spectrum of interests and has supervised numerous postgraduate research students.
Today, he continues to focus on national and international consulting in the health and educational sectors and has significant international training and facilitation experience in Leadership and Management, Project Management and expertise in planning and developing eLearning programs in a variety of Learning Management Systems.
